Changes coming in Advent to how communion is distributed to the handicapped

Effective immediately, the Worship Commission is implementing changes to how communion is distributed to those who are unable to take part in the communion procession. If you or a loved one needs communion brought to you, please let the Hospitality minister in your section know prior to the start of mass. The Hospitality Captain will communicate to the sacristan who needs communion. During communion, the sacristan will go around the church, bringing communion to those in the pews who are unable to take part in the procession. The Church teaches that the ministers should not travel throughout the church with the Blood of Christ, so the sacristan will only be presenting the Body of Christ. Remember that Jesus is fully present in both the bread and wine at mass. If you arrive after mass begins and need communion brought to you, don’t hesitate to raise your hand when you see the sacristan approaching so that you are not passed up for communion. If you have any questions about this new procedure, please contact the Director of Liturgy and Music (651-621-1564).
